To meet that vision, Speed & Tech Motoring applied a full vinyl wrap, completed a black-out chrome delete, installed smoked headlight tint, and added premium window tint for added privacy and UV protection. All work was performed in-house at our dedicated Speed & Tech Motoring facility in Sterling, VA by experienced technicians.
Our first step is always a thorough decontamination wash. While this Tesla was delivered new, it’s common for unseen transport contaminants or dealership residues to remain. We began with a two-bucket hand wash using pH-balanced soap to remove loose dirt and grime, followed by an iron remover to dissolve embedded contaminants on the paint.
Next, a clay bar treatment was performed across all surfaces receiving film, wrap, or tint. This process ensures the vinyl and tint adhere flawlessly and reduces the risk of long-term adhesion issues. Each glass panel was also wiped with ammonia-free cleaner and lint-free cloths in preparation for tinting.
Before wrapping, we completed a full chrome delete using satin black vinyl. This included the window trim, door handles, mirror caps, and badging. Tesla trims are delicate and often recessed, requiring soft-edge squeegees and heat tools to form vinyl into tight seams without overstretching.
Each chrome surface was masked and isolated to prevent contamination, then wrapped panel-by-panel. Edges were tucked cleanly for a factory-installed appearance.
The smoked lighting upgrade was installed using high-quality light smoke film, pre-cut to fit Tesla’s distinctive lighting shapes. After cleaning each lens with isopropyl alcohol and drying with a filtered air system, we applied the film using a slip solution to allow accurate alignment before locking it in with a soft squeegee.
We avoided unnecessary heat early in the install to reduce risk of adhesive marks, then post-heated corners and contours to activate the bonding and eliminate lift.
For heat rejection and privacy, we installed premium window tint on all cabin glass. The film was cut using a plotter for accuracy, then applied using a wet install method to prevent air pockets or creasing.
The Model Y’s large glass roof and curved rear glass require advanced shrinking methods, so we heat-formed each panel before final application. Once installed, every edge was sealed and inspected for clarity and uniformity.

Each body panel was wrapped individually using a slip solution, edge tools, and heat guns to contour the material without overstretching. Corners were relieved properly to avoid tension or peeling. After installation, the vehicle was allowed to rest indoors for 24 hours to promote film bonding and off-gassing.
